The Arbaro Fund for Both People and Planet
Despite a slowdown in global deforestation since 1990, the world’s forests are nevertheless still disappearing at alarming rates. The Arbaro Fund aims to combat these developments by investing in sustainable forestry in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa – regions that are home to more than two-thirds of the deforestation hotspots identified by the World Wildlife Federation.
Badeaa Sahi has been an entrepreneur since the very start of her career at age 19. That was when she began her own business making traditional sweets, originally with the aim of earning a better income for her family. But as Sahi met with increasing success and demand for her products grew, she realized that she had a knack for business.
A family business grows
The strong bond between Ahmed Zayan and his father, Sa’ad Zayan, is nearly tangible as Sa’ad puts his arm around his son. He greets the visitor with a warm smile, waving over toward the family business here in El Minya, Egypt: Al Laban for Dairy Products. “Please come and visit our facility. You are welcome any time!”
