In addition to the funds it advises and manages, Finance in Motion is also regularly doing studies or supporting special initiatives in the field of development finance and capitalizing on the profound knowledge of its staff, namely in the fields of risk management, technical assistance, or fund setup.
The Norwegian Microfinance Initiative AS (NMI) appointed Finance in Motion GmbH as the advisor for the NMI Professional Assistance Facility. As part of its advisory role, Finance in Motion provided assistance in setting up and managing the Professional Assistance Facility.
Comissioned by KfW and with the support of the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), Finance in Motion’s energy finance team conducted a study on the global market for green finance. This study was presented at KfW’s Financial Sector Symposium in 2014 and published by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Comissioned by KfW on behalf of the German Finance Ministry and with the support of the Greek Government, Finance in Motion’s small and medium enterprise (SME) finance team conducted a study on establishing a Debt Finance Fund. The aim was to assess the existing debt finance funding options available to Greek SMEs and identify options to address the unsatisfied financing needs of the local SME sector.
The study was presented in September 2013 to KfW, representatives of the Greek Ministry of Development (the "Invest in Greece" initiative), and a variety of other stakeholders, including among others, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the European Investment Fund (EIF).
From 2012–2013, Finance in Motion carried out an intensive market analysis in the field of water finance, exploring the potential to finance and foster innovative technologies that help deal with water scarcity and water risks in many developing countries. OeEB financed part of the market analysis.
