Finance in Motion among newest signatory of the Operating Principles for Impact Management

Operating Principles for impact management

Frankfurt, October 2, 2019 – Finance in Motion has signed the Operating Principles for Impact Management; an industry initiative by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), to define a common standard for managing investments towards a positive social and environmental impact. These principles aim to enhance transparency and accountability in the growing impact investment market and represent what is currently considered as best practices in the industry.

As an asset manager dedicated to creating positive impact for both people and planet, Finance in Motion has committed 100% of its assets under advisory/management, accumulating to more than USD 2 billion, to be managed in line with the Operating Principles. Finance in Motion has developed and advises funds that promote climate change mitigation and adaption, support small business development, entrepreneurship, housing, energy and resource efficiency, and biodiversity conservation.

Managing Director at Finance in Motion, Sylvia Wisniwski, said: “For us managing our impact is just as important as managing the financial performance of the funds we advise. Impact considerations are integrated into every step of the lifecycles of our investments and technical assistance initiatives. We look forward to contributing to a strengthened common standard in the impact investing market. This will not only provide a robust foundation for our impact management efforts but also help to build trust among investors and mobilize additional capital for impact investing.”

Other signatories include development financial institutions, impact investors, and asset managers. Signatories commit to managing their impact according to a set of nine principles that aim at integrating impact considerations into all phases of the investment lifecycle. Regular reporting and independent verification of impact management processes and systems are expected to provide more transparency and boost investor confidence.
