The Green for Growth Fund aims to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable economic growth by investing in reducing energy use and CO₂ emissions and improving resource efficiency. A blended finance structure, the fund leverages risk-capital provided by public institutions with additional private capital to increase investments across Southeast Europe, the Eastern Neighborhood Region, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The fund provides green private debt to financial intermediaries that on-lend to enterprises and private households. It also invests directly in renewable energy projects and corporates.

Since 2014, the eco.business Fund has been supporting business and consumption practices that contribute to biodiversity conservation. Via two dedicated sub-funds, the fund provides finance to qualified financial institutions or directly to relevant businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa. This financing strengthens companies that work towards improving the sustainable use of natural resources, mitigating climate change, and adapting to its effects.

The Arbaro Fund (Arbaro) invests in sustainable forestry projects in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa through equity or equity-like investments. By acquiring mostly majority positions, Arbaro can play a more active role in creating value and ensuring strong impact management within its portfolio companies. The fund facilitates significant climate change mitigation by investing in sustainably-managed, FSC-certified plantations. It is also contributing to job creation and skills development in rural areas and overall economic growth in its target countries, all while earning positive returns for its investors.

The Arbaro Fund’s investment advisor is Arbaro Advisors GmbH, an investment advisory company jointly established by Finance in Motion and the UNIQUE Group.

The European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) fills the financing gap and provides non-financial support to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and private households in Southeast Europe and selected countries in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. 

EFSE was initiated in 2005 by KfW Development Bank. Some experts who participated in launching the fund, later established Finance in Motion. EFSE was developed with the support of donors and international financial institutions, such as the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It has since grown into one of the largest development finance vehicles worldwide, with over EUR 1 billion assets under management. Finance in Motion serves as the fund’s advisor.

The SANAD Fund for MSME (SANAD) provides private debt and private equity financing to eligible partner institutions in the Middle East, North and sub-Saharan Africa to support growth and employment creation in the region’s micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector. In addition, SANAD’s Equity Sub-Funds also actively support the formation of greenfield ventures for addressing underserved segments and geographic areas. Its unique financing offer is complemented by a Technical Assistance Facility that delivers tailored non-financial support to embed and amplify the fund’s impact.  

Funding is provided by private and public investors and can be channeled into either the debt or equity sub-funds, depending on investor’s preferences and risk profiles. Both financial vehicles aim to increase employment and income generation through broader access to finance. Financing is extended to qualified and eligible financial institutions which then on-lend to MSMEs. SANAD’s two equity sub-funds acquire minority stakes in impact-driven financial intermediaries in the region.
