Finance in Motion included for fifth time in ImpactAssets’ IA 50 list

Frankfurt, March 8, 2021 – Finance in Motion has been selected once again to be featured in the ImpactAssets 50 (IA 50) list spotlighting private capital fund managers that deliver social and environmental impact alongside financial returns. This is the fifth time that the impact asset manager has been chosen for inclusion since 2013.

This year, which marks the tenth edition of the IA 50, shows that total assets under management among selected fund managers jumped to a record USD 228 billion in 2020, up from USD 181 billion in 2019. The list features impact investors from a broad array of thematic focus areas, from sustainable aquaculture to microenterprise development, with geographies spanning the globe. Finance in Motion advises funds that are active 36 countries across five continents, with current assets under management of EUR 2.5 billion. The funds address topics ranging from climate action and biodiversity conservation to promoting entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.

“We are very pleased to be chosen once again for the IA 50 list, an important resource for investors interested in using their money to make a positive different for people and planet,” said Finance in Motion Managing Director Sylvia Wisniwski. “Last year’s growth in the industry shows a clear recognition of the important role impact investing has to play in addressing the urgent challenges facing our society. And the diversity of impact fund managers reflects not only the wide range of areas in which we can foster sustainable development; it is also a testament to the fact that we are all in this together. The COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated unequivocally the interconnectedness of our world and the global span of issues that require decisive action. We must make full use of all our resources and talents if we want to overcome issues like climate change and forge a better future for everyone.”

“When we launched the IA 50, we knew there was tremendous potential for impact investing, but realized many interested investors weren't aware of the incredible range of impact fund managers available to them. As the field has evolved, we have also become aware of the large number of innovative fund managers not identified via our traditional networks," said Jed Emerson, ImpactAssets Senior Fellow and IA 50 Review Committee Chair. “More recently we have expanded the lens of our process to capture more breadth and diversity of impact fund managers and in doing so have also chronicled the progress made by impact investors as well as the work that still needs to be done.”
