Finance in Motion showcases how it builds markets for people and planet in its 2021 Impact Report

Impact Assets under Management rose to EUR 2.9 billion by year end

Frankfurt, 10 August 2022 – Finance in Motion, one of the world’s leading impact asset managers, has released its annual Impact Investment Report, entitled “Building Markets”. The report explores the importance of equipping markets and ecosystems with the resources and capacities to tackle social and/or environmental challenges to support deep and long-term impact at scale – in contrast to a transaction-based investment approach.

The impact funds Finance in Motion advises and manages have cumulatively invested EUR 6 billion in green and social topics in emerging markets by the end of 2021. In addition to this financing, in 2021 alone the funds managed 480 technical assistance projects with a value of EUR 35 million.

Social and environmental impact supported through the funds’ investments at year end 2021 included 2.2 million indirect jobs supported in micro, small and medium enterprises, more than 1 million tons of CO2 saved annually and 897,000 hectares under sustainable management. In addition, more than 80,000 people – staff from financial institutions, regulators and business support organizations among others – were trained.

“Building Markets” explores Finance in Motion’s approach as an advisor and fund manager to building markets, both where it invests and impact investing overall. The asset manager accomplishes this by providing holistic solutions engineered using tailored and dedicated financing and capacity building in its target markets while contributing to the growth of the impact investing market by creating innovative investment solutions and fostering collaboration and leadership within the industry overall.

Finance in Motion Managing Director Sylvia Wisniwski said: “Our mission is to harness the power of finance to address the world’s social and environmental challenges. We remain committed to driving positive change, no matter how much pressure our markets come under and what challenges arise. The events unfolding in 2021 and 2022 have proven that we continue to walk alongside our partners during their entire journey. Playing an active part in building the impact investing market and strengthen the markets in the many countries in which we invest for sustainable prosperity and growth – it is our raison d’être.”
